For Learners

NOCN and OCN's recognise people's learning achievements and ensure that learning is of a high quality. As a learner registered on an OCNSWR course, you can receive credits. Your course is made up of units. For each unit which you complete successfully you will be awarded a certificate showing the number of credits you have achieved.

What are Credits and Levels and what are they equivalent to?

  • The level of the learning you undertake is similar to the level of study needed for other courses and UK wide recognised qualifications
  • Credits are awarded at four different levels
  • A credit is a way of measuring, recognising and valuing your learning
  • The level, given on the certificate for each unit you have achieved, shows the stage you have reached in your learning.

Entry Level

  • Qualifications and units at Entry Level provide a basis for progression to other qualifications.

Level One

  • This is comparable to NVQ Level 1, GCSEs D-G and Foundation Diploma.

Level Two

  • This is comparable to NVQ Level 2, GCSE’s A* to C and Higher Diploma.

Level Three

  • This is comparable to NVQ Level 3, A and AS Levels and Advanced Diploma.
